Genetic Constructor is build on a plug-in framework because we believe that biological research increasingly relies on contributions from various disciplines including commercial and academic sources. With this framework we can package existing specialized software and bespoke industrial tools into one coherent UI. Our goal to support an ecosystem of connected tools and algorithms, giving scientists easy access to the tools of the future.
Extensions are supported on both the web client and server. They can be as visual plugins (for example the GSL extension creates and IDE and places blocks in the main canvas), as algorithms (for example codon optimization algorithms), or as adapters to other tools and services (for example foundries).
Users can select which extensions to utilize and that selection is saved across sessions.
We are currently actively developing the extension environment - so look out for more extensions and improvements to the UI.
Navigate to the extensions panel...
... select the currently active extensions. These settings are saved across sessions.
